What is Mastering?

RAW RECORDING

This is the recording process - laying down all your vocals, chords, melodies, bass and drums. There is no processing at this stage, but your song’s structure and ideas are complete.

FINAL MIX

This is the stage where each individual track has been adjusted with equalization, compression, saturation, volume, effects, and panning. Your track is 80-90% done and you’re ready to move to the mastering stage.

FINAL MASTER

This is the critical stage that will separate your music from amateurs. In the mastering process, all the details of your music will be enhanced, polished, and perfected to give your song the biggest emotional impact on your listeners. Loudness, 3D depth, fullness, and a commercial sound are all accomplished in this final stage.

All audio equipment is not created equal. That's why I’ve chosen the best mastering gear on the planet. The cables, equalizers, compressors, converters, signal processors, and monitors are all professional class. The analog and digital mastering equipment has been carefully chosen to compliment the studio and provide pristine audio fidelity, perfect acoustics, and superb studio workflow. The compressors and equalizers include new and vintage. Avalon, Bettermaker, Crane Song, Dangerous, Elysia, Kush, Merging, Rupert Neve, Universal Audio, and Weiss (Digital). The main monitors are Kii 3’s , with a secondary mono auratone for reference. All equipment cables are fed into Mogami gold XLR for crystal clear, Hi-Fi listening. To top it all off the room is configured with a Trinnov St-2 Pro, correcting any room nodes or phase issues. Letting me hear your music how it really is, ensuring that your final master will translate across any system you play it on worldwide.
